UPDATE******

Another addition to the DA Tribute! Here is Granite Dog! He is character that my partner in crime on a ton of projects has created :iconmeeks-oddities:. He is doing up all kinds of short comic strips with him, and there looking pretty sweet! I say head over to his page and check him out!

The newest addition is now on the DA tribute, and it is of :iconryanbnjmn:'s character Ellycia. She is a main character in his epic series Pancratia. I have the first two books, and am in dying need of the third! Check his work out for sure! The man is good!

Added the newest addition of the DA tribute today, and it is of the amazing :iconlastscionz:'s OC Raimundo. Chamba is TOO talented, and has inspired me since the day I randomly picked up a comic done by him at a shop by my house. He is a super cool guy, and his character Raimundo is freaking awesome. He is a super sick design from the Graphic Novel Random Versus. I have already ordered my copy of the book from the local comic shop, I just now have to get my butt down there and pick up the copy! Hope y'all like the update!

Hey gang!

So along with the million projects going on, and commissions due I for along time have wanted to do up a DA Tribute piece. This is where I take original characters from fellow deviants who have, and continue to inspire me, and draw them up together has a thank you for everything they have done to help me grow as an artist. I have been thinking about this project for a bit now, and finally I decided to talk to my pal :iconmeeks-oddities: and see if he would be interested in coloring something like that up, and to my surprise he was very excited to be apart of it. I do ask that people not ask for their characters to be involved for this is a piece to give thanks to those who have helped me, and/or Meek in someway. I am in hopes this piece will keep growing larger, and right now there are already seven characters drawn up for it, these four are just the first to get colored. Now on to who's who!

From left to right:

Mika- A awesome chibi character with a mammoth for a best friend! Done up by the super talented :icond-gee:
Balto- A berserker that from what I have seen will take on any comers even dinosaurs! Done up by the super talented :iconjoe-vriens:
Oki- A badass Hero looking to bring justice in a messed world, can't wait for the debut of him in the highly anticapated Bastion's 7! Done up by the super talented :iconcheeks-74:
Wes-Okay so he is actually my own OC but I felt he should join in on the fun too. Look for him in my upcoming comic Galaxy Hunters!

So for now these are the characters in the line up, but soon there will be a ton more, and I can't wait to show you all who they are! Thank you DA for everything! You really have opened my eyes to a great new world these last couple years!

Would love to know what y'all think of this thus far!

Well this is really interesting, and has a lot of great qualities to it. The designs of the characters are very appealing, and they are structurally solid. I really enjoy their expressions too, everyone's personality is reading very well.

The rendering is done in a cool style, but there are a couple of areas where I don't feel that it is working. I understand that the clothes are stylized but in some areas of the drawing the fabric doesn't really feel like fabric. This is most noticeable on the pants of the three guys on the right, I feel that making the fold a little bit more realistic would make them more believable.

The composition is working strongly, and I say that in the sense that all the characters are arranged and positioned so that their poses read well and your eye flows though all of them. This creates a good sense of visual movement. I do have a problem with the reflection underneath them though. It feels as though it is pulling the eye downward and off the page, possibly because the colours have the same saturation as the characters (maybe muting the colours a bit here would help). I also feel that the blurriness of the reflection detracts from the stylization of the characters.

But other then all that I think this is a strong tribute piece. Good job.
