Description

Hey gang,

So a friend of mine is getting married and they wanted me to come up with a custom design for their guestbook. After a ton of trial and error this is what the end result ended up being. We went threw a ton of color options, but in the end they liked a slightly more plain approach. I think it turned out great and would love to know what you all think!

Thanks a ton,

-Josh

I'm gonna critique this from an artist point of view first. At first glance it's cute and the story is clear, but if you look at it more closely you start to see a lot of flaws. What program did you use for this? You normally have a nice loose, and active style but this is just so stiff and rigid. Even though this was for a "client" you should always do what you do best. For example look at the brides hand, it in this case her flipper; what happened? I know you can draw hands I've seen it, so what were you using that made you forget? Also, a bride wouldn't normally wear such a bold nail color like red with her white wedding dress, that's part of the research phase that I think you missed. Also where are her legs and what is she sitting on? She's not on the seat properly and her legs are virtually not there. Don't forget to draw through your forms, even if you're using a computer program. For the guy he just looks, ok, but where is his other arm? Is it that black shape behind his other one? Again draw through your forms so you have proper placement. Next, you made the effort of making the traditional dragging the cans behind couple, but then you covered them by the tree leaves. If you're going to put in the effort of including the cans make sure you can see them, other wise what's the point? The composition is fine and the overall feel is there, what I'm doing is knit-picking the small artistic things. Of course the number one thing is that the client is happy and if this is what they wanted then you did your job. Hope that helps!
